• The simple answer is to tell the truth.
• The simple promise is found in John 3: 16 "for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

 

Matthew 5: 31-32 "The Truth About Divorce"

In today's message from the Book of Matthew, Pastor Anthony speaks about the difficult topic of divorce and reads about what God says in the bible regarding divorce.  He helps us understand that divorces happen day by day when spouses are put last.

Anthony leaves us with two questions to ask ourselves:

• Are the actions you take today helping your marriage grow stronger or tear it apart?
• Are the actions you take today helping your relationship with God grow stronger or are they making you more distant and tearing it apart?

Luke 19: 28-42 Jesus Cries on Palm Sunday

Sermon date 4/5/2020  Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is the day we remember Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem.  

Three things we need to know about Palm Sunday:

1-Jesus was fulfilling prophecy
2-He was Proclaiming He was the Messiah
3-His arrival into Jerusalem began the last week of His life and would lead Him to the cross.

⁴¹ But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. ⁴² “How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side. ⁴⁴ They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not recognize it when God visited you.”

V14-16: 

14: Because he "loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15: He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16: With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."

 

Psalm 91 is a prayer/praise to God.  During these times our faith is being tested.  We are comforted and protected when we are close to the arms of God.  We are protected for eternity.

Matthew 5: 27-30 The Truth About Adultery

Jesus spoke the truth, this passage refers to the 7th commandment "Thou shalt not commit adultery".  It is there to:

1. Protect the family structure
2. Keep us from sinning against our own bodies

Matthew 5, 21-26 Thou Shall Not Murder

Jesus came to fulfill the Law and show us the real meaning of the commandments, the Law is there to protect us because God cares about us.  Anger is the real meaning behind the 6th commandment.  Our anger is self centered based upon something that has happened to us personally and we shouldn't let anger control us.

Matthew 5, 17-20 The Law in Jesus

In this passage, Jesus wants us to understand the truth.  He instructs us in His own words how to live a life full of love under God's law, He leaves no room for confusion.  Jesus came to fulfill the Law and reveal it's true meaning, for Jesus IS the truth.  Pastor Anthony preaches a powerful sermon that we can all learn from.  

Matthew 5:13-16 "Salt and Light"

You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?  It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
